It’s a chance to grow closer, laugh harder, and strengthen your bond — one unforgettable adventure at a time.

The Ultimate Couples Retreat In Utah

Spending time outdoors together has been shown to boost mood, lower stress, and strengthen emotional connection. Research from the American Psychological Association shows that nature improves attention, communication, and overall well-being, while shared outdoor activities—like hiking, paddling, or yoga—can increase relationship satisfaction and reduce tension. This kind of “green exercise” not only releases feel-good chemicals like serotonin and dopamine but also deepens trust and intimacy. Simply put, getting outside together isn’t just fun—it’s scientifically proven to help you feel better and grow closer.

Why Choose Get Outside Together?

Choosing Get Outside Together means saying yes to something real, an experience that blends adventure, mindfulness, and personal growth in one of the most beautiful places on Earth: the rivers and red rock canyons of Moab, Utah. Led by Zak Hazlett who has spent years as both a river guide and a therapist, these retreats are designed to help you reconnect with yourself and the people who matter most while surrounded by nature’s calm and quiet power.

Out here, the river does most of the work for you. It slows you down, reminds you to breathe, and shows you what it means to flow. Between yoga on the sand, honest conversations under the stars, and shared adventures through incredible landscapes, you’ll find yourself opening up in ways that feel natural and grounded.

Get Outside Together isn’t just about getting away — it’s about coming home to yourself, rediscovering joy, and remembering how good it feels to be fully present in both your body and your life.

  • Honestly there is no one more personal, capable, and fun as Zak. I would trust ZAK with my life (actually I already have multiple times). He has been running trips for years and there is no one that is more of an expert in this field than Zak. If you want to ensure that your friends and fam are going to have a safe, exciting time, the trust Zak... all those things are a guarantee when you are rolling with him.

Common Questions Couples Trips

  • What makes Get Outside Together so special?

What makes us truly unique is that the rafting company we partner with is also run by our founder, Zak Hazlett, and his family. This creates an authentic “family” feel that you can sense the moment you arrive — the guides and staff aren’t just a team, they’re a close-knit group of family and friends who genuinely care about creating meaningful experiences. In an environment built around connection and healing, that sense of warmth and belonging makes all the difference.

  • Are there therapy sessions throughout the trip?

No — while some of our trips may include facilitators who are therapists, these experiences are not therapy sessions. Our retreats are designed to be therapeutic, meaning they naturally support healing and growth through time in nature, meaningful conversation, and shared adventure. The combination of the environment, the activities, and the people you’re with creates space for reflection, connection, and renewal — without it being formal therapy.

  • What can we expect from the weather?

Moab’s Canyon Country is known for its fantastic weather. In the spring and fall, daytime temperatures range from 60-80 degrees F, dropping to 30-50 degrees at night. Expect summer temperatures between 85 and 105 degrees during the day and 55-75 degrees at night. Rainstorms tend to be rare and short-lived in this area, but a light rain jacket may be handy for cool mornings or late afternoon showers. We recommend that you check the local weather before departing to see what is forecast during your trip. Always be prepared for the sun; wear sunscreen and a hat to protect your skin.

  • Why are these trips more expensive than an average rafting trip?

Our trips are more expensive because they’re built with a level of care, intention, and quality that goes far beyond a typical rafting or outdoor experience. Each retreat is fully customized to the group — from the food and itinerary to the staff we bring and the activities we design. You’re not just joining a trip; you’re joining an experience created around connection, growth, and genuine presence.

We keep our group sizes small to ensure a more personal and supportive environment, which means more guides, facilitators, and hands-on attention for every guest. The meals are chef-quality, the gear is top-tier, and the atmosphere is designed for comfort and depth — not crowds or cookie-cutter schedules.

In short, you’re investing in a high-quality, all-inclusive experience that blends adventure, reflection, and community in a way that’s truly unique — and every detail is chosen to make sure it’s unforgettable.

  • How many people are on each trip?

In general, each trip hosts around 24 guests. The exact number can vary depending on the type of experience and group dynamic. Some trips are smaller based on water levels and availability, but the depth of connection and reflection remains intact. We find that the larger group size helps create a fun, social atmosphere where you can meet new people and share the adventure together.

  • What are the toilet facilities like?

The Restrooms are available at our office, all major boat launch sites, and BLM campgrounds. A portable toilet will be set up in camp for your comfort and convenience. For privacy, it will be secluded behind a large rock or clump of trees or set up inside a “John” tent. The toilet will be available each evening and morning and for emergencies during the day. Our guides are sensitive to the unique challenges women may encounter while traveling in a wilderness area. Please don’t hesitate to ask if there are questions concerning these issues. Many women find it helpful to wear a two-piece swimsuit and/or have a skirt or wrap-around sarong for privacy and convenience. Ziploc bags are handy for storage and disposal of feminine hygiene products.

  • What if I want to bring my own camping gear?

We provide all the camping gear you’ll need for your trip — but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Many guests who already have their own gear like to use it because it’s familiar and comfortable. Whether it’s your own tent, sleeping pad, bag, or camp chair, you can absolutely bring it along. Either way, we’ll make sure you’re fully equipped and ready for an incredible experience outdoors.

  • May I bring my own beverages and snacks?

You’re welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks — we’ll have cooler space available to keep them cold during the trip. We recommend bringing canned beverages (they’re easier to pack out and better for the environment). To maintain the mindful and connected atmosphere we strive for, our trips are alcohol- and drug-free. This helps everyone stay present, clear-headed, and fully engaged in the adventure and the experience together.
